My husband and I were married at the Portola Inn on April 24, 2010. I had seen the Portola Inn about two years ago while attending another event and fell in love with it right away. The house is very reminiscent of the 20’s and the property surrounding is gorgeous. I told my then-boyfriend that I would like to get married there and he called the O’Malleys to set up an appointment to meet with them in November. I had no idea he was actually planning to propose to me in the gazebo in their back garden that night. The owners helped set everything up to surprise me, it was all very sweet.

We had less than six months before our wedding. Peggy and Tom were so organized, professional and ready to answer all of our questions. They obviously had much experience hosting events and knew what to expect. We were on a budget and I was relieved when I found out they were able to provide tables, chairs, linens, tableware, etc. Peggy spent hours showing us everything they had available and making sure it was exactly what we wanted. The O’Malleys did so much more than just host our wedding. They handled communication with all of our other vendors and were prepared for every possible situation, even making sure we had a rental tent on stand-by in case of rain.

My sister and I stayed in the guest house the night before and had a great night’s sleep. My bridal party and family arrived in the morning and we had plenty of room for everyone to relax. We also used it later to accommodate our elderly family members who needed to rest during the reception. I was able to completely relax knowing I hand nothing to worry about. We were married on the back lawn under a canopy of oak trees with a view of the forested hills behind. After the ceremony, the lawn was promptly transformed into our reception site, which ended up being even more beautiful than I had expected.

I can honestly say that, if I had the chance to do it again, I would absolutely choose the Portola Inn. Our day went beautifully and we couldn’t have asked for more. We received many compliments about the professional staff and gorgeous site. The best part was being able to marry in the place we had been engaged, and that it was in our own hometown. I would highly recommend the Portola Inn to anyone wanting to get marreid on the Central Coast.

Sincerely,

Katy and Tyson
