Special Events nestled under majestic oaks.
From executive business retreats to class reunions, birthday parties, and showers; Portola Inn is the perfect setting for your special event. Located on California’s central coast, we provide one-stop event planning, including vendor coordination of your photographer, caterer, wait staff and more. Our staff provides parking attendants, a crew to set up and take down tables and chairs, and assistance with décor. Linens, tables, and chairs are included. With eight distinct venues on site, groups of every size and age will find a comfortable space for their activities. Wi-Fi is available in all areas. Parking areas, paths, and venue spaces are beautifully lit for your safety and convenience. Need to stay over? No problem, our Guest House and Master Suite can each accommodate 4 guests. If desired, you can treat yourself to the elegance and charm of our bed & breakfast facilities in the Main House.
Carriage House
Sits at the front of the property. It can accommodate up to 48 guests for a sit-down dinner. The warmth of finished pine and romantic lighting add to the intimacy of your event. A wall of windows looks out onto a deck, firepit, and garden filled with fruit trees and vegetables. With a stage, big screen, and dance floor entertainment is a breeze. Your catering staff will be pleased to see serving, and kitchen prep areas. Relax and enjoy your event!
Carriage House Terrace
Is adjacent to the Carriage House. This area seats 36 guests with a view of the Main House and Garden. Here you have easy access to the firepit (S’mores anyone?). A great spot for food trucks or casual dining. Get ready for some fine food and conversation!
The Main House
Bed and Breakfast guests will enjoy eating in the Dining room of the Main House. Built in 1927, you will be treated to not only delicious food, but classic iron work made by Edward Trinkeller, builder of the main gates at Hearst Castle. Original walls and fireplace, and era appropriate furnishings will transport you back to the 1920s. Relish a simpler era!
Oak Tree Garden Terrace
The original patio for the Main House will accommodate up to 24 guests. Enjoy a panoramic view of Atascadero from the deck. Cool evening? Enjoy an oak fire. Warm day? Add a lemon from the Meyer Lemon tree to your drink. Drink in the local history and beauty!
Oak Tree Garden Lawn
Is the entrance to the Oak Tree Garden. Sitting under one of our most majestic oaks, this space can seat up to 48 for dinner. Sit and enjoy the sunset with family and friends!
Ancient Oak Terrace
Sits beneath the oldest and most impressive live oak at Portola Inn. Here groups of up to 60 can dine under the oak and over artistically laid cobblestone. This space sits in front of our Guest House and includes a lighted gazebo and bubbling turtle fountain. There is easy access for caterers to set up a buffet, plated dinner, or food stations. Enjoy the beauty of nature at its finest!
The Sneaky Woods Picnic Area
A serene path from the Ancient Oak Terrace leads to this private area which can accommodate 24. Children and adults, alike, enjoy the rustic swing and large picnic tables. Perfect spot for take out options like pizza or sandwiches. Savor the simplicity!
